When I was fifteen my 10th grade english teacher introduced me to my first Pablo Neruda poem, “Tonight I Can Write the Saddest Lines.” And I was swept away into his world of fire, longing and unrelenting sorrow. You see, Pablo had spoken to my soul in a way that I had never felt before. He had given a voice to this sensitive, introverted, shy, yet so passionate girl who had yet to find her own song to sing. A spark ignited in me and I began my love affair with poetry. I read every Neruda poem I could get my hands on.
As the years went by, I filled journal after journal with my own poetry. This ebook contains a collection of poetry that I have written over the last 22 odd years as well as artwork that I made as a background for each poem. I altered an old discarded book to contain this collection. I still have the original altered book and it is for sale, just PM me for details. Here is one of the poems from the collection:
There is a silence amid the noise in the trees, a beckoning solitude masquerading as storm and fury, calling wildly from the clouds. I am looking around, seeing nothing, seeing the beauty through glassy eyes, without earnest, without recognition. For too long. A weary traveller, circling in search of fruit, forgetting the well worn path of love that lies behind, afoot, and in the distance. Silence surprises. That sweet, fragrant honeysuckle once again, each time.
